Foxgloves is a Grade II listed cottage, set back from the high street in the village of Steeple Claydon, Buckinghamshire. The brief was to create annex accommodation for a family relative that is connected to the existing listed property.
Rather than directly adjoining the annex to the cottage, the design gives special regard in preserving the setting, architectural details and the features of historic interest by way of stepping the barn away from the historic asset. This retains and enhances the original west elevation by way of a south facing courtyard between existing and proposed.
